Pupil with copy of The Caretaker:

Teaching of wrong book for AS English exam ‘deeply regrettable’

It’s been revealed that eight pupils at Sandown Bay Academy were told to study the wrong book for their AS level English exam.

The students had been studying Harold Pinter’s The Caretaker, but the recent examination paper sat by the eight students had no questions on the book they’ve been studying for the last year.

OnTheWight got in touch with AET to find out more. An AET spokesperson said,

“We can confirm that an investigation has been launched into the circumstances which led to eight students at Sandown Bay Academy sitting an AS English Language and Literature examination without knowledge of the text featured in the paper.

“This is deeply regrettable.

“When the full details are known the school will write to the examination board to explain the position in order to safeguard the interests of the students concerned.

“At the resumption of the school term next week the school will also write to the parents of the students to explain the position and the way forward.”
