Cowes is set to welcome its third TEDx event next month, with the half-day-long speaker conference poised to be its most ambitious to date.
TEDxCowes, taking place at 2pm on 2nd November at the Island Sailing Club, hopes to inspire a million people to take individual and collective action for ocean sustainability.
This year, eight speakers will explore the theme titled “Ocean: Multiply.” Each speaker will centre their talk on the critical question:
“If humanity were viewed as part of nature, how might this influence our understanding that harming the environment is self-harm?”
In person tickets
Tickets for the TEDxCowes are priced at £35.
Additionally, supporters can donate as little as £1 to the event’s Crowdfunder page to access the event via its live streaming service.
Zangrando: Excitement is mounting
Leonardo Zangrando, licence holder and curator of TEDxCowes, commented,
“With less than a month to go, excitement is mounting, and we can’t wait to show the Isle of Wight and beyond what we have in store.
“Our past TEDxCowes editions have featured 10 notable speakers, amassing over 340,000 views on the TEDx YouTube channel.
“This year, we aspire to engage an even wider audience with riveting talks centred on vital actions for ocean sustainability.”
TEDx events are independently organised offshoots of the TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) conferences, which have drawn audiences of millions worldwide with their “ideas worth spreading” ethos. TEDxCowes aims to share “actions worth talking” as well.
Marine life and the ocean
With a particular emphasis on marine life and the ocean, TEDxCowes arrives at a critical juncture in the world’s fight for environmental change. The Island’s event proudly aligns with the TED Countdown initiative, a global endeavour by TED to champion and identify solutions to the climate crisis. The overarching aim is to foster a more sustainable future by halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, guiding the world towards zero carbon emissions.
Event sponsors include the Island Sailing Club, Cowes Harbour Commission, property finance firm TAB, video production and social media marketing agency Baked Bean Media, and Isle of Wight and Hampshire-based PR Consultancy, Natalie Richmond Communications.
Zangrando: Tickets are likely to be snapped up quickly
Leonardo added,
“It’s immensely exciting to bring TEDx to the Isle of Wight once more.
“Tickets are likely to be snapped up quickly, so ensure you secure yours promptly.”
