The Met: Restaurant Review

(I did put out a request in the forum last week, asking if anyone wanted to send in a review of The Met, given that I knew Adel’s was quite scathing. At the time of publishing this post, I’d not received anything. If you disagree with Adel, feel free to send in your review of The Met and we’ll publish it next week. Ed)

Setting: Ventnor Esplanade – under big block of flats.

The Met: Restaurant ReviewOccasion: Tapas experience wanted

Diners: Adel; ‘im indoors; boy racer; mon amie

Meal Wanted: Relaxing time trying new foods

Meal Got: Four-fifths of eight dishes.

Menu: They’re everywhere and nowhere baby! Cost cutting gone mad!

Service: Indescribable!

Whine List: Probably somewhere trendy”¦.on the ceiling p’haps?

Posh Nosh?: No!

Presentation: By the time it arrived, it was eaten quick -not looked at!

Ambience: Pardon?

Other: So loud and noisy, had to stick olives in ears

Price: £40 inc drinks – one coarse.

Nickables: No thanks!

Other: Facts: NO MENUS on tables”¦”¦.but one blackboard for meat; one for veg; one for fish; one for olives”¦”¦all placed in different areas around the room”¦.why?

Struggling through tables and chairs just to see the blackboards, going cross-eyed from one to t’other – why don’t they hand out prozac at the door? Ye gads! The idea is to eat, not do logic puzzles!

No recommendations for set meals! Party of four people, of seven dishes each had five bits of “¦”¦”¦..prawns; kebabs; ribs, etc and one dish had six potatoes”¦”¦why?

WHY? Did our order get lost?

WHY? Were SO many young people packed into such a small space? Was it rent-a-mob?

WHY? Were so many talking SO loudly?

WHY? Does the decor not including something to absorb the sound? Curtains? Flags? Anything?

This bar looks set to be the “in” place. You’re no one until you’re seen (and heard) there! It’ll be full of young, trendy yobmobs sipping wine (slowly) while sharing one tapas dish between four!

Recommendations: Get more staff (lots); put menus on tables; offer a reservation service for tables; serve olives/nibbles foc; price up suggested menus for differing numbers of diners; change the decor; have over 40’s evenings. You’ll increase your profits after implementing that lot, THEN you’re a maybe success. Not before! Until that’s done: The Met Tapas = Crapas!
