Congratulations to young Island band, The Vecks, who took the Battle of the Bands title on Thursday night.
The four piece, Jack Skinner (17) on vocals and guitar, Patrick Gooden (16) on guitar, Sam Carter-Chappell (18) on bass and Joe Pelletier (16) on drums and vocals, have been making huge waves ever since forming at the end of last year.
Upbeat ambitions
They tell us that they aim to create music which is catchy, upbeat, and has the power make the saddest of people want to dance.
Taking Battle of the Bands title will definitely help raise their profile, as the prize means they’ll be playing on the main stage of the 2011 Isle of Wight Festival.
Although they’ve only been formed a few months, The Vecks have been busy gigging around the Island and even have a downloadable EP for sale through BandCamp.
Commiserations to the other bands who made it through to the final. Parachute Mind took second place and Alex Mountford came third.
