Thieves have stolen a Commonwealth Games gold medal from Newport-born athlete, Kelly Sotherton’s home in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.
Kelly won the heptathlon gold in Melbourne in 2006 and is said to be utterly distraught at the loss of this treasured medal.
The Daily Mail report the burglary took place whilst Kelly was upstairs.
They also took her laptop and some cash.
Kelly tweeted the loss today asking anyone who is offered the medal to get in touch with Crime Stoppers.
