Officers have charged a man and arrested two others as part of an investigation into a series of burglaries and criminal damage incidents on the Isle of Wight.
Police have received reports that between the early hours of the morning and late evening of Sunday 24th September, three businesses had been burgled in the Royal Victoria Arcade in Ryde, and a fourth business in Marlborough Road.
Spraying graffiti on vehicles
At around 9.45pm on Sunday 24th September, police also received a report of a man spraying graffiti on vehicles in Ryde before officers arrested a man nearby in The Strand.
Following enquiries, a 42-year-old man of Thornton Manor Drive in Ryde has been charged with four counts of burglary, going equipped for burglary, criminal damage relating to the graffiti in Ryde, possession of a knife in a public place, and resisting arrest.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday 26th September).
Other arrests
As part of this investigation, an 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and handling stolen goods, and a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary, handling stolen goods, and criminal damage in relation to graffiti incidents in Ryde and across the Island.
They have been bailed with conditions until 21 December while enquiries continue.
