Following our interview with uber-active designer Wayne Hemingway, discussing the Totland Rec project which we published last week, we also caught up with Totland Parish Councillor, John Howe.
John was clearly very chuffed to have the Hemingways involved in the project, pointing out that having someone with their capabilities and high profile name would be a great help in attracting finance for the project.
He is keen to encourage as many people as possible to contribute to the project, saying that clearly the more input you’ve got, the more ideas you get, leading to making it better for everyone who uses the space.
He went on to explain that through planning agreements, the parish council have been able to take over a field which borders onto the sea providing wonderful views, and a place for shared allotments and growing spaces.
He finished by saying that Totland Parish Council welcome as many ideas as they can get, as well as encouraging as many people as possible to help in any way they can.
From artists and designers, to landscapers and gardeners – everyone is welcome.
Wayne told us recently that the project is progressing and we’ll bring you updates once they are confirmed.
Thanks to John for taking the time out of his busy schedule to talk to VentnorBlog.
