Just heard from Island Line that the Ryde Esplanade to Pier Head service is back working again, stating up at about 3:30 this afternoon. There may be issues tomorrow.
It ceased earlier as sea water was lapping over the rails.
When we asked this afternoon if it was likely to stay open, they said, “Tide and sea conditions allowing.” There isn’t another high tide today.
UPDATE: South West Trains got in touch just now and said there’s a chance that the line might be rendered unusable again tomorrow if the high tide and sea conditions come together.
The next high tides in Ryde will be on Tuesday 00:52 (4.6m) and 13:03 (4.6m) (Info: isleofwightweather.co.uk.
