Undercliff Singers support Ventnor Community with successful summer concert

The Undercliff Singer’s musical director Michele Brock was delighted to present to Tony McCarthy, Ventnor Community Development Officer, a cheque for £466.62 for the Ventnor Community Support Fund, following the Undercliff Singers’ summer concert, at St Catherine’s Church on 14th July – the rainiest day of the summer.

Community Support Fund
Tony gave a fascinating and touching insight to the audience of over 130, into the amazing work of the Community Support Fund, including the work of Ventnor Community Foodbank, Baby box, Ventnor Community Pantry, Ventnor Well-being Cafe.

He spoke about the success of the weekly Your Space at St Catherine’s Church every Thursday of the free meals given to so many in our community.

Our Place – free advice drop in centre
Tony went on to add about the growth of the monthly Our Place free advice drop in centre and the many Island agencies who give free advice, Citizen’s Advice, People Matter, Living Well and Early Help, Veteran’s Outreach Support, Barnardo’s, Ventnor Community Shed, Sight for Wight, Isle of Wight Stroke Association, Baby Box Isle of Wight, in addition to those mentioned earlier, all held at St Catherine’s Church.

Brock: Generosity shown was so humbling
Michele said.

“There are so many people who do so much great work in our town, the generosity shown by all those who came to our concert was so humbling and we know the monies will be make a huge difference to the communities who struggle so much to make ends meet as they help so many people in our town.

“At every concert of The undercliff Singers, in addition to its wide variety of music, we support various causes and have raised £000s over the years but everyone was staggered by the generosity shown from the audience of the donations towards Ventnor Community Support Fund.”

Michele went on to say,

“A massive thank you to everyone who came along and gave so much.

“The singers meet every Tuesday at 7:30 at St Catherine’s Church for practice and we always welcome new singers.”

After the summer break Undercliff singers’ rehearsals will start again in October to be ready for the Christmas concert on Friday 15th December.
