It’s that time of the month when we get the figures through for the number of unemployed claimants on Isle of Wight.
Official sources tell us that the number of unemployed claimants in Isle of Wight constituency was 2,572 in August 2010.
This is 47 lower than the previous month (July) and 624 lower than the same month last year (August 2009).
This ranks the Isle of Wight 359th highest of the 650 UK constituencies with 4.2% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64 claiming unemployment benefit.
It’s important to note that the data is not seasonally adjusted and given we’re at the end of the summer season, there may well be a rise in next month’s figures.
