We did say at the beginning of the week that we may have more than one choice of Picture of the Week and we’ve just found our second. OK it’s not of the Island, but does have a loose connection.
The glass surrounded spiral stairway at 1936 De la Ware Pavilion in Bexhill on Sea may well have been the inspiration for the Island architects, EC Cooper and AD Clare who designed and built the Ventnor Winter Gardens in the same year.
We’re sure you’ll agree that VB Flickr Group member ping pong 365 has captured the beauty and elegance of the staircase in this shot.
Wouldn’t it be fabulous if the Winter Gardens could have it’s spiral staircase returned to it’s former glory?
