Thanks to John Marr from Vectis 4×4 Response for this update on their work at the Festival site yesterday. Well done to all the volunteers who helped out. Ed
Friday 1.41am: We have just returned from a shout to the Isle of Wight Festival site that we received at 17.41 on Thursday.
We had eight vehicles on-site from 1900 – 2340h (yes, even with a police escort to get us in, it took us a hour to get there).
Moved 358 vehicles
In that time we moved 358 vehicles that were stuck in the mud. There is only one way into the car park and the conditions were the cause of all the hold ups. We ain’t to blame, but we did our best.
Remembering that we don’t get paid, this is some achievement for us, especially as we are back in tomorrow at 0700h.
Hants 4x4R and Sussex 4x4R are on Stand-By to come over and assist if required.
