Regular VB readers will remember the appeal we ran for the Vectis 4×4 Response Group last month.
The group were successful in recruiting new members to their team through the VB appeal and have been ‘on call’ for the Isle of Wight council since.
During the most recent severe weather conditions, Vectis 4×4 team have been working with Beaulieu House to ensure both staff and children were able to attend or be taken home safely.
Assisting at all levels
As well as that, two vehicles were assigned to Wightcare for reactive response if required and at the weekend, they were transported the Duty Emergency Planning Officer into County Hall, so that he could coordinate various things over the Isle of Wight.
Liz Pearson, Manager of Downside House Care Home also received helped from the team and had this to say,
“I used your services to transport myself from Cowes to Downside House in Ventnor, as there appeared to be no buses running and two taxi services refused me.
I wish to thank you for the peace of mind it has given me to know there will be sufficient staff to care for my residents should their be a heavy snowfall in the morning.”
