Vectis Radio third annual Community Awards: Get your nominations in

Vectis Radio is pleased to announce their third annual Isle of Wight Community Awards, this time at a new venue. Taking place on Friday 28th March at Caffe Isola in Newport, the Community Radio Station is offering a chance for all island-based community organisations and charities to be publicly recognised for the valuable work that they do in our community.

Station Manager, Ian Mac, said, “Vectis Radio has been working in the community for many years now and we always strive to do more for our community. Following the success of the awards in the last two years, we are excited to announce that the awards continue once more in 2025 and we invite all community organisations to apply.”

The awards are open to any charity, individual or community (non-profit) organisation based on the Isle of Wight and are split into several categories:

  • Community Project of the Year
  • New Community Project/Organisation of The Year
  • Island Based International Project/Organisation of The Year
  • Animal Focused Community Project/Organisation of The Year
  • People Focused Community Project/Organisation of The Year
  • Charity Fundraiser of The Year
  • Volunteer of The Year
  • Most Inspirational Person in the Community Award

The event will be specifically aimed at these organisations.

Currie: Entries to the categories are free and event tickets are being kept to a low price
Event organiser Maggie Currie said,

“Following feedback from the very successful events we held in 2023 and 2024, we have kept the same categories. For the most inspirational person of the year category, once again our panel of judges will select four finalists who will be announced in advance of the ceremony in March and will be voted on by the public.

“As ever, community organisations don’t have much money to spare so we wanted to hold an evening event once again that would fit the pockets of those who would like to come along and celebrate the Isle of Wight Community without breaking the bank. For that reason, the entries to the categories are free and event tickets are being kept to a low price.

“Thanks to the generosity of the team at Island Roasted, the event will be held at Caffe Isola meaning there will be food available to purchase on the night as well as having a licenced bar.”

Entries need to be submitted by midnight on 24th January 2025. Application forms can be obtained by emailing [email protected]. Please state in the email which category or categories you would like an application form for. An announcement will be made when tickets for the awards event go on sale.
