Vectis Radio’s Soap, ‘Penny for your thoughts’ celebrates its 200th episode

The 200th episode of ‘Penny For Your Thoughts’ is due to be broadcast on Vectis Radio in October.

Marion Hartley wrote the first episode initially as a link in a school show on Vectis Radio.

Now features 13 actors
At that time, it had two actors, and was recorded in the staff room at St George’s School. But, soon after, it was given its own slot on the radio station, and now features 13 actors, playing characters of all ages and backgrounds.

Many live on the Island, and have now returned to Vectis Radio’s studios to record, but the soap has also attracted performers who record remotely from London, Portsmouth, Lincolnshire, Essex, Luton and France!

Mac: Marion does an amazing job
Vectis Radio station manager, Ian Mac, said,

“Marion does an amazing job, writing every episode, and somehow managing to capture the Island way of life.

“She also weaves in places and events such as the Isle of Wight Festival to give a personal and authentic approach to the drama.”

Hartley: A great way for us all to have fun and be creative
Marion said,

“It’s a lovely place to set a drama, with its slow pace and friendly life style, which buzzes with tourists at certain times of the year.

“For me, PFYT is a great way for us all to have fun, be creative and give those who wouldn’t necessarily get the chance, an opportunity to develop and explore their acting skills, while living in a community that we are very fortunate to be part of.”

The show is edited by David Hartley, ready to go on air on Friday, just after 6pm. The episode is then repeated on Mondays.

All episodes, right from the beginning, can be found on vectisradio.com, and will soon be available on Spotify, too.
