Last night a thief broke into the visitor centre at Ventnor Botanic Garden.
VB understands that they smashed the donations box in the entrance area stealing the money in there, estimated to be hundreds of pounds.

Police can confirm they are investigating a report of a burglary in the library at Ventnor Botanic Garden on the Isle of Wight.
Officers were called shortly after 10.40pm on Wednesday, October 19, 2011.
Cash was reported stolen from a box containing donations for the Ventnor Botanic Gardens Friends Society.
A police investigation is continuing.
