Ventnor Fringe Festival unveils DARKFIELD’s latest immersive experience: ARCADE (updated)

Last updated:

DARKFIELD’S ARCADE will no longer premiere at Ventnor Fringe 2023. ARCADE is the most ambitious DARKFIELD project to date, and as audiences will know, that is no small feat.

We are very excited to get the show ready to present to audiences in the near future. Have a brilliant festival Ventnor!

Watch this space – we hope to make it to the Isle of Wight in the near future. – Glen Neath, David Rosenberg, Andrea Salazar and the Darkfield team.

This year at Ventnor Fringe Festival there’s going to a show unlike any you’ve ever experienced before.

There will be an opportunity to have exclusive, first-look previews of immersive theatre pioneers DARKFIELD’s brand-new show ARCADE.

Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

ARCADE
ARCADE is the latest immersive audio experience from DARKFIELD. But this isn’t an ordinary arcade and these are not ordinary arcade machines. Every machine offers you the chance to enter the world of the game and choose your own unique journey.

As you guide your avatar through a world ravaged by endless war, there are many routes you can take and there are many different outcomes.

You choose
You can choose a side, win or lose the war, search out a more peaceful route, or join a cult promising a better version of reality.

Where will your decisions lead you?

Nostalgic 8-bit aesthetic of 1980’s video games
Using the nostalgic 8-bit aesthetic of 1980’s video games, ARCADE’s interactive narrative explores the evolving relationship between players and avatars.

This choose-your-own-path experience will fully immerse players in alternate environments in a completely dark shipping container, using 360 degree binaural sound and sensory effects.

Players will be asked to address deep existential questions about free will and consciousness in a world where some may win and some may lose…
