Ventnor Fringe organisers call for more volunteers ahead of this summer’s festival

With just a couple weeks to go before the start of this year’s Ventnor Fringe Festival, organisers are calling for more volunteers to join the team behind the ten-day celebration of arts and culture.

The festival relies entirely on the support of volunteers, who travel from across the Isle of Wight and beyond to help make the event happen.

Organisers describe this community of helpers as the “festival family”, with volunteers playing a vital role in keeping the event safe and running smoothly from start to finish.

Wide range of volunteer roles
There are many ways for people to get involved.

Roles include stewarding, box office work, technical support, marketing, and helping to build and decorate the site. Positions are available before, during, and after the festival.

Three main teams form the core of the volunteer programme: Stewards, Box Office and Build Crew.

Friendly and inclusive experience
Organisers aim to make volunteering at Ventnor Fringe a rewarding and welcoming experience.

They say,

“We want to make sure that all our volunteers are able to enjoy their time whilst working with us at the festival, and have the opportunity to see some great events as well as gain experience and in many cases make new friends for life!”

The team welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds to apply.

A volunteer’s perspective
Amy, who has volunteered at the Fringe many times before, shared her experience,

“When volunteering at The Ventnor Fringe you completely immerse yourself in the celebration of all art forms, meeting the kindest and most talented people you could imagine all in the most amazing town.

“Giving my time to The Fringe was one of the greatest decisions I’ve made, it’s my favourite week of the year and I have a family there for life.”

How to get involved
Anyone interested in volunteering can fill in a registration form online.

The team will review applications and contact successful applicants.
