As you’ll be aware, there’s an election coming before xmas for the Ventnor West ward, following the resignation of Meg Mortimer back in September.
With five people putting their names forward as candidates, Clive Joynes, the Elections Manager for the Island tells us that this election is “the most hotly contested election on the Island, ever.”
The closest second place was Brading who had four candidates, but that was for two places on the town council that became available at the same time.
It’s really encouraging that there are so many people willing to put themselves forward for a role on the town council, unlike the past where people had to be co-opted on, due to a lack of candidates.
