VentnorTV Launch: Mike Furness Interview (podcast)

VentnorTV Launch: Mike Furness InterviewA while back, we caught up with Mike Furness one of the volunteer team before the VentnorTV launch.

Each time we’ve met Mike it’s been a real pleasure and we’ve left with an impression of a lovely, giving, jolly bloke.

Starting in TV at 19 as a cameraman, Mike eventually left the TV business as an entertainment producer/director, when illness forced his hand.

Now living in St Lawrence, he saw an advert in The Chronicle asking people to get involved with VentnorTV.

The over-arching brief was ‘a good-news television channel,’ something to cheer up people in difficult times.

The formation of VentnorTV and beyond
In our chat, Mike gives details about some of the programmes that VentnorTV launched with, stories that interest him and where they hope to be going with the programming.

Upcoming content includes one of Ventnor’s post lady who has been doing a lot for the people in Guinea; a subject close to our heart, Ventnor skatepark; and one of the local taxi drivers.

We love VentnorTV’s thinking – for those who don’t have a computer to watch the video that VentnorTV produce, they plan to create DVDs for people to watch at home – everything should be included.

If you know of an event going on, particularly if it’s has a strong visual element, do get in touch with Mike or the others in the VentnorTV team.

Since the recording Mike has been hit with another alert from his doctor. Our thoughts are with Mike and his family and we wish him all the best.
