Business papers were yesterday reporting that Vestas, the wind turbine blade manufacturers have just received their largest ever order.
The company, which has an R&D Facility based on the Island won the order, worth around $2.9 billion, for delivering and maintaining turbines in Europe and North and South America for EDP Renovaveis SA.
Not surprisingly, shares in the turbine company had a tidy increase following confirmation of the contract.
Update: We also hear today that huge order has resulted in the Windsor, US plant reopening for production.
Regular readers will remember that all staff were given temporary leave of absence back in December 2009 due to lack of orders.
