The Friends of St Francis School, Ventnor are hosting their first Spring Fayre on Saturday 21st May 11am-3pm.
The Spring Fayre is one of the school’s main fundraisers for the year and money will be used to help furnish and develop the “Place in the Sun” courtyard into an exciting outdoor classroom area. In addition, funds will be used to support the school’s Year 6 end of year disco and leavers gifts.
What’s on
There will be several free performances and sessions to enjoy throughout the day including: two magic shows from Magic by Andy, live music from local artistes Amber Lily and Lucan, crafts & songs with Messy Church, children are invited to learn some basic circus skills with The Isle of Wight Youth Circus and the school’s own Performing Arts group will be performing songs from their upcoming production of Oliver.
There will also be pocket money priced games stalls (many run by the pupils), face painting, bouncy castles, sales stalls from local vendors, a refreshments area selling tea, coffee, soft drinks, cakes and Crave ice cream as well as a well-stocked beer and Pimms tent!
Special guests
If that wasn’t enough, Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue will be there with one of their fire engines and St Francis will also be welcoming very special guests Elsa & Olaf from Frozen and Spiderman.
There is also a Big Spring Raffle which has attracted some very generous donations from many Island businesses and also a fantastic opportunity from The Saints Foundation at Southampton Football club! Tickets are just 50p and are on sale from now until the draw during the fayre.
The Friends
The Friends are a parent group who meet weekly and concentrate on organising fundraising events. All the money raised by The Friends is used to purchase items to enhance the pupils’ school experience at St Francis.
So far in 2016 the group has organised a Valentine’s Disco, a Mother’s Day Gift shop, hosted a Partylite Candle party, held pop up preloved uniform shops and attended the recent Ventnor Day. Through these events The Friends have been able to buy 12 iPad minis, which is one for each class! Each pupil also received a chocolate gift at Easter time!
