Wessex Cancer Support, which provides free and local support to anyone affected by cancer on the Isle of Wight, is offering new drop-in sessions at Ryde Library.
The first session will be held on Thursday 2nd November between 1pm and 4pm, and then on the first Thursday of every month – when the library is closed to the public.
Who it’s for
Anyone who has cancer, is adjusting to life after cancer, supporting someone with cancer, or bereaved is welcome to drop in and chat with a qualified member of the team.
There will be a quiet, confidential space available to find out how Wessex Cancer Support can help.
Wessex Cancer Support
Wessex Cancer Support’s main centre is at 21 Lugley Street, Newport, PO30 5HD and is open Tuesday to Friday between 10am and 2pm. The centre provides a variety of emotional support, including wellbeing activities, support groups, complementary therapies and counselling.
The new monthly drop-in sessions at Ryde Library will be open to anyone who might find it difficult to travel to Newport and would like to access support nearer to them.
Garland: Whatever you’re going through, we’re here for you
Laura Garland, the manager of Wessex Cancer Support’s Isle of Wight cancer support centre says she understands taking the first steps to cancer support can be daunting:
“Living with cancer can be really tough and you may be experiencing thoughts and feelings you’re not used to. Maybe you’d like to have a chat with someone outside of your main circle of friends and family.
“Our drop-in sessions are a really informal opportunity to come along and chat with a member of our team about how you’re feeling. Whatever you’re going through, we’re here for you.”
