Isle of Wight band Wet Leg is on track to take the top spot in the album charts this week, according to NME.
Just one week after releasing their eagerly-awaited self-titled debut album, NME reports that Wet Leg has been outselling the Father John Misty’s latest release by four to one. See the results when they are announced on Friday afternoon.
Five star reviews
The album has received some incredible reviews from around the globe.
It’s not surprising really, as it was the culmination of a lot of hard work and two or three years in the making. For a first album, it’s incredibly well-produced.
We’re sure it must have been excruciating for the band to have had to sit on it for the last year, but of course, all those who attended their sell-out shows in the UK and US will have been treated to the full repertoire.
And there’s more
Coverage has included musos from NPR spending time deliberating the band, Wet Leg’s music, their look and discussing their now-legendary status.
Yesterday saw an interview with the filmmaker, Edgar Wright, (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, The Sparks Brothers, etc) released on Interview Magazine’s Website. It’s an interesting read and gives a little more insight into the band and where they’re coming from.
Homecoming porch show
This week Wet Leg have also released some great footage to their fans of a mini-homecoming show.
The more observant among you will recognise it as the same Isle of Wight porch used for the band’s first music video, Chaise Longue and also featured in Wet Dream.
The smiles and giggles between Hester and Rhian do illustrate how much fun they have whilst making great music and the band sound really tight. Not surprising giving the number of gigs they must have played since signing to Domino last year.

A reminder that many of Wet Leg’s songs are ‘not work safe’ ie. the subject matter is a bit saucy and they do swear, but if you don’t mind all that get stuck in below.
Father John Misty’s Chloe and the Next 20th Century was also released last Friday, and is followed in the charts by Jack White’s Fear Of The Dawn and Kae Tempest’s The Line Is A Curve.
