Wight Sky Gets The Blues

Wight Sky Gets The BluesOne of the new controversial new ferries commissioned by Wightlink has broken down and been withdrawn from service just one day after being introduced.

Delays followed Wight Sky’s inability to sail due to mechanical problems, while she was hurriedly replaced with one of the 35 year old ships the new multi-million pound ferries were built to replace.

The new larger ‘W Class’ vessels, built in Croatia, have attracted opposition amid claims they create greater wash, potentially damaging the Lymington River and concerns over the lack of safety trials, as reported yesterday.
