Eight more Isle of Wight organisations have been given a boost thanks to the latest round of donations from WightAID.
Groups from a youth football team to a circus skills club have benefited as WightAID distributed nearly £6,000.
Cowes Sailability
The biggest donation has gone to Cowes Sailability (pictured above), which has received £2,500 towards chartering the specially adapted WetWheels Hamble for 18 days.
This boat allows people with disabilities the chance to get on the water, allowing users to improve coordination and concentration, giving a sense of freedom.
Viva Carnival Club
Viva Carnival Club is an integrated group for disabled and non-disabled drummers. It has been granted £500 to allow it to buy extra portable instruments, allowing the group to take their weekly Samba drumming sessions out into the wider community.
Solent Singers
The grant of £370 to Solent Singers hit the right note with Solent Singers.
The cash will enable the Gurnard-based choir buy new storage cabinets and pay for the music for this year’s summer concert.
The 25-strong group meets regularly and says singing helps improve mental and physical health.
Isle of Wight Venue Campaign
The Isle of Wight Venue Campaign supports vulnerable people and live arts events on the Island.
It will use the £500 grant for artist postcards, framing and display of art, as well as production of events.
West Wight Timebank
Keeping pets within families has proved difficult for some during the cost-of-living crisis. The West Wight Timebank has established a Pet Food Pantry to help with this.
It has been granted £500 by WightAID to help pay for weekly sessions.
Sun Drum Forest Community Club
Sun Drum Forest Community Circus Club received £500 towards updating their circus equipment.
This Upper Ventnor-based volunteer-led club is aimed mainly at families but is open to all ages,
Sporting Opportunities/Special Olympics
Sporting Opportunities/Special Olympics received £500 towards athletes’ kit and replacing equipment.
The group prides itself on all inclusivity whether the athletes are school age, living in homes or supported accommodation.
Brighstone Youth Football Club
The club was granted £500 towards new goals for its new under-11s team.
It says the money will allow more children from the Isle of Wight to enjoy football.
