Isle of Wight-based TV production company, People Media UK, is set to air a heartwarming film featuring two rescued tigers on BBC’s The One Show tonight (from 7pm), marking a significant milestone in their second anniversary celebrations.

Wildheart Sanctuary’s feline stars
Sophti and Topf, two female tigers rescued at the Belarus border, are the stars of the show.

These majestic creatures were relocated to the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary just a few weeks ago and have been acclimatising to their new, permanent home ever since.

Praise for People Media UK
The People Media UK team has earned high praise for their work on this project.

Lee Saudan, Head of Marketing at the Sanctuary, described the production as “absolutely fabulous,” expressing her admiration for the team’s professionalism and dedication.

Experienced producers at the helm
The film is produced by Tony Steyger and Barbara Jane Mackie, both former producers for the BBC and Channel 4.

Bringing a wealth of experience to the table, Barbara, a BBC-trained scriptwriter, drama producer, and script editor, places great emphasis on giving back to the community. The company is committed to connecting with other media professionals and nurturing the growth of the creative industries in the local area.

Community engagement and local empowerment
In line with their philosophy of local empowerment, the dynamic duo work closely with students from the Isle of Wight College as trainees, preferring to shoot locally whenever possible.

They also engage the expertise of Island media professionals, with Dayita Sagger-Hayward serving as their regular Production Coordinator, and their two TV editors also based on the Island.

Future endeavours
Looking ahead, the team is preparing a short film about John Ackroyd, the Island-based designer of the first commercially available electric car, built in 1973.

Tony highlights that the Isle of Wight is home to many personal stories of national relevance, which are the narratives they aim to share.
