Will the student ‘milking’ craze reach the Island?

We wonder whether a new fad, which has been spreading across the country will reach the Isle of Wight.

Students in Newcastle have filmed a short 2½-minute clip which sees them pouring pints of semi-skimmed milk over their fully clothed bodies.

The video montage features different locations in the city, such as Newcastle University, Tesco, train stations, roundabouts, along with many others.

The video has become a hit, with over 230,000 views within a week of it being uploaded.

Why?
Tom Morris, 22, a student who was behind the filming of the video said, “We were just in our kitchen talking about doing it outside Starbucks in Jesmond and thought it would be really funny.”

The boys posted the video on Facebook, for their friends to see and gained loads of likes whilst the clip was up. This led to the reaction of the boys, making a video of the ‘milking’.

Information accompanying the video asks viewers to “Support British dairy farmers”.

A sub-editors’ dream
The story has given sub-editors on national newspapers a great opportunity to flex their thesauri to create suitably humourous headlines.

Student paper, The Tab, have reported that the craze has spread across the country, with students in Edinburgh, Nottingham, Oxford and Cirencester making their own copycat versions.

Others, however, are less impressed by this, saying it’s immature and a waste of milk!

Considering viewing figures of the video on You Tube, similar footage filmed on the Island could make for a great ‘I Love Isle of Wight Milk’ advert.
