We’ve heard that the job of the Winter Garden’s promotions and booking and admin post has been filled by David Edwards, who currently lives in Birmingham, but plans to move to Cowes with his partner, who was originally from the Island.
You may well remember the role, it’s the one that was advertised a month or so ago (using our tax pounds) only to have the role chopped around and reduced to a 22 hours a week job, in return for £10,000.
We understand that 50 people applied for the job over the two advertising rounds and that ten people were interviewed last Monday.
We’ve heard that David has his own promotions company, but are unsure if he’ll be bringing it to the Island.
He’s due to start the role on 21st or 22nd Feb, and we wish him the best of luck.
The Winter Gardens has the potential to become one of the foremost attractions of the south of the Island. Let’s hope it fulfills it.
What about the other applicants
We’re somewhat surprised that some of the best-suited candidates weren’t even contacted to say they weren’t shortlisted, never mind interviewed – despite making many calls to John Farrant, they didn’t receive a reply.
That’s no surprise to us, we’ve left phone messages for John Farrant (there’s very little option when he never answers the phone) that have taken him over eight days to return … and the reply finally came via a fax – how quaint!
