Art of Food

Wish Quay Arts a happy 40th at The Art of Food & live Art Auction

Thanks to Georgia for sharing details of this fantastic celebration of 40 years of Quay Arts. Ed

To celebrate Quay Arts’ 40th Anniversary, we’re proud to present an art-inspired, six-course tasting menu from renowned Island chef, Robert Thompson, followed by a live Art Auction of modern and contemporary works, all kindly donated in aid of supporting the Quay Arts charity: The Steve Ross Foundation for the Arts.

The event will take place on Thursday 10th March 2016 from 7pm, in the dramatic setting of The West Gallery at Quay Arts, where artist Paul Woods has created a backdrop of thrones and architectural models from recycled wood.

‘The Art of Food & live Art Auction’
As Quay Arts is now entirely self-financed, ‘The Art of Food & live Art Auction’ charity event will help to raise much-needed funds to continue to support the amazing artistic talent that exists on the Island and to bring free, high quality exhibitions to our community.

The tasting menu will reference notable artists such as Jackson Pollock, with a fish course of grilled pollock, grilled parmesan polenta, cuttlefish ink, red pepper, saffron and basil purées, as well as a nod to contemporary artist Damien Hirst with a sumptuous suckling pig confit course, and rounding off with a selection of melting cheeses, referencing Salvador Dali’s infamous ‘melting clocks’.

Live art auction
The live auction will be kindly facilitated by Hose Rhodes Dickson. Artworks include recent prints, paintings, and pottery by contemporary, award-winning artists, such as Kurt Jackson, Lisa Traxler, Matthew Chambers and many more.

The event will take place in the dramatic setting of The West Gallery at Quay Arts, where artist Paul Woods has been creating a backdrop of thrones and architectural models from recycled wood.
