Thanks to John from the IW Campaign to Protect Rural England for this news. In his own words, Ed
The Isle of Wight branch of Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE-IW) will be honouring Ventnor resident Wendy Marshall at the August meeting of Ventnor Town Council, to be held 7pm on August 13th in St Lawrence Village Hall.
Nominated for a prestigious national award by CPRE-IW for her dedication in keeping Ventnor and its surroundings litter-free, her exploits had been trumpeted before the Marsh Christian Trust Awards committee in her capacity as a private citizen.
However, she was up against stiff competition and just missed out in her class.
Marsh(all) Award
CPRE-IW did not take this result lying down and decided to hold their own Marsh(all) Award.
Wendy is to receive her just reward at the Ventnor Town Council meeting when the Chairman of CPRE-IW, John Langley, will hand over a framed certificate of appreciation for her work, together with a CPRE cheque and a copy of her Citation.
Part of the citation reads, “Thanks to her continuing selfless labour, her local part of the Island is no longer drowning under litter, but she is never complacent about success – to her it means carrying on with her daily fight.”
