A young Isle of Wight resident has taken a quiet, but meaningful step to help children living with cancer.
Danika Barber is organising a fundraiser on behalf of The Little Princess Trust, following her 12-year-old son’s decision to donate his hair to the charity.
Four years of growing, one generous gesture
He had been growing his hair for nearly four years, with the specific aim of donating it so that it could be used to make a wig for a child who has lost their hair due to cancer treatment.
Although he cares deeply about the cause, he prefers not to be named or to receive attention for his actions.
Danika said he feels uncomfortable with the spotlight and wishes to stay anonymous.
Support for children and young people
The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs, free of charge, to children and young people who lose their hair to cancer and other conditions.
The charity also helps fund pioneering research into childhood cancers.
They say,
“When a child loses their hair to cancer, we’ll be there with a free, real hair wig to help restore their confidence and identity.”
Fundraiser now live
Danika has set up the fundraiser to support the Trust’s work, hoping that others will be inspired by her son’s quiet act of kindness.
The funds raised will help the charity continue to provide wigs and support vital research projects.
