Christmas Refuse Collection DatesIsle of Wight Council is advising residents of changes to the usual collections of household refuse and recycling, which will last four weeks.

The collection service will run on a different timetable between Monday 27th December and Saturday 22nd January.

Household Waste Recycling Centres will also be affected over the Christmas period.

Lynnbottom only closed for one day
Lynnbottom household waste recycling centre will be closed on Christmas Day only but will otherwise be open under normal operating hours over the Christmas period.

Afton and Forest Road household waste recycling centres usually only open on weekends but will be operating different opening hours over Christmas.

Afton will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. It will be open between 0930 – 1630 on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th December, and also on Sunday 2nd and Monday 3rd January. It will then open as normal on weekends as normal.

The Forest Road site in Newport will be closed every Saturday from Christmas Day up to and including 22nd January. It will also be closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The site will be open on Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th December between 0930 – 1630 and also on Sunday 2nd and Monday 3rd January.

The facility will also open between 0700 – 1900 on Sunday 9th, 16th and 23rd of January.

If not collected, keep your refuse secure or take to the dump
Council contractors will make every effort to collect waste and recycling during the winter season.

However, should your refuse not be collected by the end of your collection day due to adverse weather conditions please keep it securely within the boundary of your property and present it at the kerbside on your collection day the following week.

If your black box was not collected, it will not be emptied until the next scheduled collection in two weeks time.
