Barn fire at the Cow Shed in Carisbrooke

The Isle of Wight Fire Service were called to a barn fire at Froglands Farm, Carisbrooke at 2.36am this morning (Monday).

Five pumps were called to the fire after a 10x8ft outbuilding was reported as ‘well alight’. The building was used as a workshop and to store timber.

The Fire Service tells by 6am two hose reels were still in use, damping down and a cylinder of LPG found on site was being dealt with.

By 7am, three pumps and a water carrier were still in attendance.

The Farm is also home to the well-known antique and restored furniture and fitments business, The Cow Shed, but as far as we can tell, the building affected was not one of those storing goods for sale.

Our thoughts are with those at Froglands Farm, we hope they haven’t lost too much in the fire.
