The Bay CE School pupils Dance Live team

The Bay CE School are Regional Dance Live champions for the second year in a row!

Pupils and staff at The Bay CE School are celebrating after winning the Southern Regional Primary Schools Final of Dance Live for the second year running. They are now 2023 and 2024 Regional Champions.

The Bay secured a place at the finals by placing third in the heats in February. The finals took place  at Portsmouth Guildhall on Thursday 25th April.

The performance of ‘Around the World in Eco-Ways’ was inspired by the book ‘Around the World in 80 days’. A university pupil takes on the challenge to create an eco-friendly vehicle that can transport them around the world. On the trip, they visit and take part in cultural dances from India, Japan, USA and finally the UK, where they celebrate the wonderful world that we live in.

Judges commented that the performance was inclusive and they particularly liked the use of sign language. They commented that all of the children were always smiling, they loved the transition between country to country within the story and the traditional dances showed the research that had been undertaken.

The school would like to thank all of the children and staff involved for their hard work over the past 8 months and their parents and carers for their support.

Mrs Dunford said,

“We could not be prouder of our Dance Live team; to win for the second year in a row is just incredible. The competition was really tough, with many of the schools in the final specialising in performing arts. Our children have worked so hard and their dedication has paid off.”

Mrs Lawrence, Head of School (Primary),

“We are absolutely delighted for our children and staff team who have all dedicated so much time to delivering such a fantastic performance. We would also like to thank their family members who have supported them along their journey to the final and were there to cheer them on. To hear the amazing comments from the judges made me so proud! I am so pleased that so many of our pupils have had such an exciting opportunity to take part in an experience that they will never forget.”
