Ryde Harriers: Steve Lee grabs the top points

Thanks to Tom for this latest report from the Ryde Harriers. Ed

It was another 10km nominated course, the newer version though with its twists and turns making for tricky navigation for newer members or those with a bad sense of direction.

Tom and Steve Ryde HarriersMany Harriers had competed in the weekend’s league race at Salisbury so there were many tired pairs of legs dragging themselves round.

A rare podium finish for the top two this time around, as male athlete of the year Steve Lee managed to predict his time as only five seconds out to take first place. Steve grabbed the top points with a margin of only five seconds from Tom Blackwell who, like Lee, rarely features highly in nominated competitions. Third place slot went to Elaine Parry who was also very close, just twenty four seconds out.

Fastest runners on the night were Simon McMorran and Tom Blackwell for the men, they crossed together in a time of 42.33. For the women it was Catherine Young who continues to show real upturn in form recently. Catherine finished in a time of 51.40.
