Busy road at Osborne

Coastal path rally planned in East Cowes to improve walking routes for all

The Isle of Wight is a popular walking destination.

The Island has excellent footpaths that showcase our amazing Coastal and Downland landscapes. Visitors are attracted to the Island throughout the year.

Some 60 to 70 per cent of residents enjoy healthy walking across the Island.

Strange anomalies exist in East Cowes
Our maps show that whilst there is a good path network in most Island towns and villages, there are no paths leading to the countryside in East Cowes.

Isle of Wight Ramblers would like to see all residents having access to the countryside.

King Charles III England Coast Path
The implementation of the King Charles III England Coast Path provides a great opportunity to improve access to the countryside.

However, the current plan by Natural England shows the England Coast Path bypassing the Osborne and Barton estates and using busy main roads.

Helping to put this right
We have received much support from many politicians and organisations in our campaign to correct this situation.

You can help too by joining our campaign to create a truly coast path from East Cowes to Wootton.

Join the protest rally
Do visit our website for more information and join us for a protest rally to Osborne on Bank Holiday Monday 6th May.

Meet us at Jubilee Recreation Ground, East Cowes for a picnic at 1pm and a rally with the Samba Band to Osborne estate gates.
