All welcome to celebrate Jack Tait’s life at funeral

Hundreds turned out on Sunday afternoon at the Winter Gardens to pay tribute to the late Jack Tait, who sadly passed away at the end of last month.

The afternoon celebration saw dozens of musicians take to the stage, all pulled together by friend of Jack, Andy Norman. It was a fantastic event and one that Jack’s daughter, Jenny, said he would have thoroughly enjoyed.

A whopping £1,107 was raised at the event for Parkinsons UK and the Just Giving page set up by Andy has gathered a further £410.

Andy Norman was Master of Ceremonies for the day and described it as

“Like herding Cats….

“Musicians are notoriously difficult to organise and when you get so many of them together they are so busy catching up and reminiscing that it was a full time job keeping the programme running to time.”

He concluded,

“The feedback that I have had is that everyone had a great time and Jack’s family were delighted to see so many of his friends there.”

Funeral arrangements
All are welcome to Jack’s funeral which takes place at 1pm, Wednesday 22nd April at St Catherine’s Church.

Jenny tells OnTheWight that everyone is most welcome and there is no dress code,

“There will be a celebration of life in the Crab and Lobster afterwards which everyone is invited to……bring an instrument!!

“The Ventnor Comic Jazz Band will be leading the hearse from The Volunteer pub in Victoria Street around 12:30pm to the church. Following the service, they will then lead a procession from the church through the town.”
