Don’t miss the 2015 Isle of Wight Open Studios

THIS ARTICLE IS A SPONSORED FEATURE

The Isle of Wight has long been a hub for the creative arts, and Open Studios builds on this rich heritage every year by encouraging visitors to share in the Island’s vibrant arts scene.

Over the last two weekends in July, Isle of Wight artists open their doors to art lovers in homes, studios and exhibition spaces covering every corner of the Island.

From a farm in Yafford to large galleries in Newport and Ryde, Island artists will be welcoming visitors and inviting them to enjoy their work, discuss their techniques, and take beautiful pieces away with them to enjoy in their own homes.

Wide variety of media
No Island event has such a varied and comprehensive range of locations, or presents such a wide variety of media.

This year there are over 120 exhibitors, working in traditional disciplines such as sculpture, painting, photography and pottery, and more unusual techniques such as felt making, driftwood art and glass art.

There are over 50 artists new to the event in 2015, making this one of the most eclectic and comprehensive Open Studios yet.

Spread over two weekends
Between Friday 17th – Monday 20th July you can follow art trails around Newport, Cowes, Yarmouth and Freshwater.

The following weekend, from Friday 24th – Monday 27th July, it’s the turn of artists around Ryde, Bembridge, Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor.

Look out for Yearbook
Entrance to all venues is free, and the Open Studios Yearbook, available from June, provides maps and art trails to help visitors find their way around unfamiliar places, as well as profiles of each artist and examples of their work.

The Yearbook is available on Red Funnel ferries, Islandwide from Southern Vectis information centres, tourist information points, libraries, National Trust and English Heritage properties, galleries, framers and shops across the Island, and of course the Open Studios Website can be accessed wherever you are!

A great day out
Open Studios is the perfect opportunity to explore the Isle of Wight and all of the creative riches it provides, and guarantees a great day out, whatever the weather!
