Appley WI look back over the last year

Thanks to Judith for this latest report from Appley WI. Ed

After a rousing rendition of ‘Jerusalem’ the minutes of October’s meeting were read and accepted. Imminent social events were mentioned, including a coffee morning, another fused glass workshop and the birthday lunch.

Reflections
Maggie Coles, Secretary, summarised the year which brought back many happy memories. It began with the visit of the WI Centenary Baton and continued with a range of speakers and culminated with the cake extravaganza in September celebrating every decade of the hundred years of the WI.

The accounts were explained by Dawn Milford, Treasurer, and accepted by the members. Then Pam Fenna, President, gave her address, thanking the committee for their hard work throughout the year and a reminded members of some of the many highlights.

President election
The election of the committee for 2016 was supervised by WI Adviser, Shirley Williams, who congratulated Pam Fenna on being elected President again.

Anne Longford proposed the Vote of Thanks.

Other business
This month’s Best Bloom was brought by Vida Yule; the competition of a pasta picture was won by both Katherine Kureen and Margaret Rogers.

It was a lively meeting and Appley WI would be very happy to welcome new members for next year.’
