The Isle of Wight Festival 2015 today reveals the recipients of its brand new local charity initiative, which was launched in February.

A total of 20 pairs of tickets to this year’s festival worth £10,000 were donated towards the initiative, which invited charities and good causes on the Island to enter a ballot system and apply for tickets to use in fundraising activities.

A total of 20 local charities have been selected out of 60 based on their applications that outlined how they would best use the highly desirable tickets. The successful 20 charities and causes are as below, with fundraising activities ranging from raffles, online auctions, a pop-up shop and a music-themed competition.

Continued support
This local charity initiative continues the support The Isle of Wight Festival and its promoter John Giddings has given over the years to not only charities, but also schools, sports teams and musicians on the Isle of Wight.

Isle of Wight Festival organiser John Giddings said:

“We had a great response to our new local charity initiative and I’m pleased to be able to offer our support by donating tickets towards local fundraising activities. We aim to bring the Island community closer to the festival through supporting charities and other good causes and it’s great to launch some new initiatives this year to supplement our existing relationships”

Other local charities that have received support from the Isle of Wight Festival over the decade include St Catherine’s School, The Earl Mountbatten Hospice, Quay Arts, Dimbola Lodge, Beaulieu Respite Centre, Daisy Chains IW, Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Pink On Wight Breast Cancer.
