15 year old died after eating Chinese take-away

The tragic story of a 15 year old with a nut allergy who died after eating a take-away from the Ryde branch of Hong Kong Express was revealed on the Daily Mail Website yesterday.

An inquest into the death which, was opened and adjourned, heard that while visiting his Brading-based Father at Christmas 2012, William Luckett ordered his favourite dish, barbecue spare ribs, managing only two mouthfuls before feeling unwell.

The Mail reports that Hong Kong Express say that peanuts were listed as an ingredient on the menu.

The manager of the take away, Michael Hang, explained to the Mail that if they are told of any allergies at the time of ordering, they ensure those ingredients are left out, “I know how important it is because my son has allergies.”

A tragic story for all concerned.
