Many thanks to Keith for this encouraging news about the future of Waterside Pool in Ryde. Ed
Waterside Action Group (WAG) – formed to first protest and then fight the closure of Waterside Pool, Ryde – launched a bid jointly with the pool’s management team on 11th February.
The bid carried the support of Ryde Town Council.
On Thursday 17th February an email sent to WAG from John Metcalfe, Deputy Director Economy, Tourism & Leisure, announced that the WAG joint bid had been chosen as the ‘Preferred Bid’.
WAG to meet county and town council
Representatives from the WAG team and pool management were scheduled to meet with John Metcalfe at County Hall yesterday (21st) and with Ryde Town Councillors on today (22nd) to present their proposals for saving Waterside.
The WAG Bid meets the IWCC stipulation of ‘no long term cost to the council’.
On Wednesday the County Council will of course debate the proposed cuts.
WAG hopes that the Bid will move from being ‘Preferred’ to ‘Accepted’
I am sure all at VentnorBlog will wish us luck!
