Vectis 4×4 provide a valuable service to the Island throughout the year, but in particular over the winter months. If you have a 4×4 please consider getting involved. Vectis 4X4 Response tell us more. Ed
As we get near to the cold bit of the year, and following some rather long but very productive meetings with the emergency services on the Island, we at Vectis 4×4 Response are launching our Big 4×4 Appeal.
What this is designed to do is to raise enough money for the group to purchase and run a dedicated 4×4.
This vehicle will work alongside team member’s own vehicles but has the benefit of being able to run 24/7 if required. It also means that we can expand our team to encompass volunteers that may not own a 4×4 but would like to do something for the Island community.
We already know what we are likely to be doing and talks are on-going for ‘out of winter’ 4×4 provision to the Island’s emergency services.
Basic training offered
Any potential new team member would undergo some basic training – we are not about to let someone who has never driven a 4×4 out on the roads without it – and to start with, they would be crewed with an experienced 4×4 driver.
Our existing team members now number 12 fully operational with an additional four undergoing basic assessment, but we’re always looking out for more people to take part.
Fundraising on 12 November
Our target for the Big 4×4 Appeal is £4,500.
This will purchase, equip and run a vehicle for the team.
Come and see us at Tesco Extra in Ryde on Sat 12th November, where we’ll be collecting donations and hopefully recruiting some new team members.
There is no membership or joining fee.
See the Vectis 4×4 Website for more details.
