For a while we’d been hearing mutterings that Cllr Roger Mazillius was planning not to run at the next elections.
Many felt that the announcement of his upcoming exit in November from the Isle of Wight council’s Cabinet was part of the tactical withdrawal.
Earlier in the week an eagle-eyed On The Wight reader spotted that in his latest newsletter, Cllr Mazillius announced that he had “decided not to seek re-election”.
This was confirmed by Cllr Mazillius at the Cowes Town Council meeting last night.
He will have represented Northwood for fifteen years.
