A well-known national poultry judge and exhibitor, who organises the Poultry Section at the Royal Isle of Wight County Show, has been elected to his hobby’s national governing body.

Jed Dwight, who became the youngest fully qualified national poultry judge in December, was elected as a Member of the Poultry Club of Great Britain’s Council, following a national vote this month.

With six spaces available, and eleven candidates from across the UK putting themselves forward, the young judge polled second, and by doing so gained a four-year term.

Life-long interest in poultry
Welcoming the news Jed said,

“Everyone that knows me, will be well aware of my life-long interest in poultry, and I have gained a great deal from my involvement with the Poultry Club of Great Britain. I felt that it was time to give something back and so put myself forward.

“I am therefore absolutely delighted to have been elected to this national position by members from right across the UK, and look forward to getting started in this new role.”

Taking up his role at the Club’s first Council Meeting this November, Jed will also become the youngest serving member of the PCGB Council, aged 25.
