Police are appealing for information after two burglars were disturbed breaking into a home in Cowes.
The men entered the house on Edinburgh Close shortly after 3pm on Monday, February 23.
They were disturbed by the occupier, a 78-year-old man, and ran from the address onto Blackberry Lane towards Park Road.
They took a wallet from the property containing cash and credit, debit and store cards.
One man arrested
Following police enquiries, a 26-year-old Cowes man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and was bailed until March 25.
Detective Sergeant John Stirling said:
“The homeowner is clearly shaken up by what happened but otherwise uninjured.
“We’re following up a number of lines of enquiry and would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area of Edinburgh Close.
“Did you see two men running from the address or hear the occupier calling after them?
“Cowes Primary School is at the end of the Close and classes would have ended a short time before so it’s possible parents picking up their children especially may have seen something.”
