Wootton Bridge by-election sees four diverse candidates following Daryll Pitcher's contentious resignation
Daryll Pitcher was elected as Isle of Wight councillor for Wootton in the May 2013 elections.
He was elected under the banner of the UK Independence Party, one of two UKIP councillors. Daryll is also a parish councillor at Wootton.
He stood in Suffolk Coastal for UKIP in the May 2015 General Election. He came third after the Conservative and Labour candidates, achieving 8,655 votes, a 15.6% share of the total vote, gaining 9.8% on the previous UKIP result.
He became Executive member for Planning, housing and homelessness in January 2017.
In April 2023 he was sentenced for historic rape charges, committed against a girl under the age of 13, when he was a teenager in the 1990s.
He resigned as councillor on 12th July 2023.
