It’s that time of year for Heritage Open Days. Venues across the country will open their doors to the public for special events and some buildings will be open for public viewing when usually they are private premises.
The Guildhall, in Newport, Isle of Wight was a once grand building.
Designed by revered architect John Nash in 1819 – responsible for much of the layout of Regency London – the building has fallen into disrepair, with its upper floors being abandoned by Isle of Wight council around 2010.
It emerged in May 2012 that the council was considering selling The Guildhall.
