Residents of Undercliff Road are sick of Isle of Wight council and Island Roads having done nothing solid over the last eight months to re-provide vehicle access to their homes. Knowing this, a group of Islanders have got together and built a road themselves, as a big 'Up Yours!'
Following the landslide in Spring 2014, the esplanade at East Cowes has now suffered a second major landslide, which according to the local councillor is about 12 metres wide.
Kate Ashbrook believes failure of the council to reinstate the coastal path at Totland would be a severe blow to the Island’s economy and to the enjoyment of its residents and visitors.
Over 100 residents and businesses shared their views and concerns about the situation at Undercliff Drive and how it's affecting them. All comments will be collated and presented to the council, MP and Island Roads.
With the heavy rains of January still to work its way through the rock of the Undercliff, who knows what this road will look like in a few weeks time. Our thoughts are with the families who continue to be affected by the devastating landslip.
